Routine. A word that sometimes invokes feelings of monotony, boredom and unexcited events. While that may be true for many, here at Michlelet NCSY the word routine has an entirely different meaning. At Michlelet, our everyday routine is so rewarding, exciting and fulfilling. From the moment we wake up until the moment (usually pretty late at night….) we go to sleep, we are involved in a routine that is nothing less than exhilarating. It has been so moving to see the Michlelet NCSYers really fall into that groove of loving the routine on Michlelet and being fired up about the Torah learning which takes place each day and throwing themselves into the excitement and fun as well. It was so moving to see this week was how much the girls appreciate the every day calm on Michlelet as well. I have been watching the girls grow and bond through the learning that takes place here. With so many pressures of tests and the like nowadays, it is so refreshing to see young women, learning to really love learning Torah and with only positive associations. Our learning here has been strong and powerful. It is so special to see how much the girls enjoy learning with each other and from their teachers and madrichot. My personal favorite part of the day is the first 20 minutes after breakfast at homeroom when the madrichot learn a sefer (book) together with four Michlelet NCSYers in their group. I love walking into the Beis Medrash, seeing the beautiful sight of girls bent in towards each other and their book in little groups and hearing the magnificent sound of so many voices filling the room, all learning Torah at once. To walk around Reishit throughout the various times of the day and see them so involved in their chaburahs with their madrichot and shiurim with their extraordinary teachers is nothing short of remarkable. Watching their enthusiasm as they listen to the remarkable speakers in the evening is so uplifting to see. (This week we heard from Rabbi Anthony Manning, Mrs. Elisheva Kaminetsky, Rabbi Jonathen Bienenfeld and Mr. Charlie Harary) We had a special interactive Yom Iyun on Technology on Thursday morning which the Michlelet NCSYers soaked up eagerly. At Michlelet, whatever we do we try to do to the fullest. When we learn, we really learn and when we have fun we really have fun! And so much fun we had…, including amazing activities, dancing and energy at incredible night activities, top rate tiyulim and meaningful chessed trips. The dimension of fun, excitement and newness filled the air at the start of our week with our incredible extended weekend in the North. Shabbos in Chispin was absolutely beautiful and the unity and singing were phenomenal. Dancing on the boat ride on Motzei Shabbos, kayaking down the Jordan River and then all the various exciting trip options – water hikes, Dekarina Chocolate Factory, Amuka and Kever Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai or visiting a Talmudic Village certainly started off the week with a bang. Color War added more thrill and it was so wonderful to see all the girls involved, each of them displaying their unbelievable talents and including one another. Our night activities were filled with laughter, cheering and dancing as usual. Our plethora of activities offered throughout the days were top notch as usual. Experiencing Dialogue in the Dark, Invitation to Silence or Museum of Old Age was especially meaningful to the girls, sensitizing them to what it’s like for people who are Blind, Deaf or the Elderly. The girls have really gotten into the routine here and it has become a part of them, as they delve into the many enriching aspects of Michlelet and really appreciate it. It is so hard to believe we are finishing our fifth week here! I hope all the girls enjoy their off Shabbos and get a taste of Eretz Yisrael beyond the walls of Michlelet. We are looking forward to a jam packed, fun filled and very exciting week next week. Have a wonderful Shabbos, With love from the Holy Land, Rivka Yudin
